pop-we Dinner Club Reviews Little España

population-we™ (pop-we) foodie Jackie had the group travel to España, which translates to Spain, in this case it was Little España, located at 11036 Elm Street in Rockbrook Village Omaha, NE. There is another location at 6064 Maple Street in Benson. España is a different type of restaurant as it is a “tapas” which means light snack or appetizers eaten with drinks. If you are a big eater this may not be your type of place.

Number 3 Spanish Breakfast.

When you arrive at Little España the hostess stand is right at the door. From here you can scan the room. The room is very elegant with beautiful floors and art deco ceiling. There are walls separating areas of the room to give it a smaller more private feel. I really loved the bar with the giant chalkboard that they write up the food and drink specials. The walls are lined with pictures of Spain; from cityscapes, bull fighting and giant plane tickets.

Our visit was a little different from all of the other places we visited as we went for Sunday Brunch. That did not stop us from taking in some libations. A few in the group tried the Gazpacho Bloody Mary. I just had a Mimosa, simple but refreshing. In talking with others; España is known for their Sangria and worth a try but do be warned that there are three sizes the largest is $38. For the entrée I had the Number 3 Spanish Breakfast. This dish is comprised of think bacon, small sausage patties, fried egg and a thick potato-onion omelette. Again simple, but tasty. The sausage was made with chorizo, which I really enjoy. What can I say you can never go wrong with bacon and thick smoky taste. A couple others tried the Huevos Benedict made with fried egg, garlic baguette, marinated sirloin and hollandaise sauce. Having many different types of Benedicts this was different with the thinly sliced steak but it was the marinade that set it apart. An enjoyable dish from the reviews.

After compiling the surveys from the other foodies the pop-we Dinner Club gives Little España: 4.06 star average on a scale of 1-5.

pop-we Dinner Club Reviews Our Place In Arlington

Our Place Catfish Dinner.

This month foodies in population-we™ (pop-we) Dinner Club traveled to a Nebraska town with a population of 1,243 called, Arlington. Our stop for this road trip was Our Place Restaurant & Lounge, located at 243 N 3rd St. in Arlington. It was Scott's pick and in the email unveiling the location he described it as: "Great little place to gather and have some great food."

Signs were posted throughout stating: "Open Sundays Now" that would explain why we practically had the place to ourselves. Our waitress who waited on our party of 14 entirely by herself gave us the choice or eating in the lounge (bar) or restaurant side. The bar side was dark and completely empty except for a very opinionated local sitting at the bar; however, the restaurant side was bright and looked liked it was recently remodeled. We let Scott make the call and he picked the restaurant side.

This evening, Our Place had a variety of dinner options steak, prime rib, fish and sandwiches; all which our foodies ate. I decided on the Catfish Dinner. The catfish was tasty as well as seasoned and fried to perfection. My two sides; green beans and hash browns--could have been larger though and the dinner roll was stale. A final note, they don't serve dessert. Overall, we had a good time and meal and will be back.

pop-we Dinner Club Joins Urbanspoon Spoonback Program

According to James Beard, “food is our common ground, a universal experience.” This being said--attention foodies--it’s official population-we™ is now on Urbanspoon!

In January of 2011 population-we™ started a dinner club in which each month a member picks a restaurant to dine at with the club. Our club's taste encompasses fine dining, chain restaurants as well as mom-and-pop cafés and dives. At the end of each outing member's fill out a survey, which is compiled and reported on monthly by our food bloggers to our readers. You’ve asked and we’ve listened. Readers have commented that it is hard to find our pop-we Dinner Club reviews. So, if you've visited population-we™ recently readers may have noticed a new widget tab (shown at right), which directs you to a stand alone page featuring our pop-we Dinner Club Reviews. For your convenience, a compilation of pop-we Dinner Club's annual year in review posts are linked there as well.You're welcome! A link to Urbanspoon is now also on each pop-we Dinner Club post, too.

Those readers not familiar with Urbanspoon, the online foodie community allows you to keep track of favorite restaurants and share them with your friends. population-we™ is participating in Urbanspoon’s Spoonback program.
